Policy 324: Washington Reverse Articulation Program (WRAP)

Operational Policy
Policy Number: 324
Adopted: June 2016

½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï will ensure that, as students transfer credits back to ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï from baccalaureate institutions, they are not unduly affected by the differences in the specific degree requirements between the two- and four-year sectors by adhering to the Washington Reverse Articulation program approved by the CTC Instruction Commission in 2016.

Reciprocity of Individual Courses

If a student transfers an individual course that meets a Communication Skills, Quantitative Skills or Distribution Requirement at the sending baccalaureate-granting institution for a specific bachelor’s degree, that course is considered to have met that same requirement at the ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï for an associate’s degree, even if this course does not have an exact equivalent and even if the course credit is awarded through prior learning credit or completed at the 300 or 400 level.

If a student transfers an individual course that meets a Diversity Requirement at the sending baccalaureate- granting institution for a specific bachelor’s degree, that course is considered to have met that requirement at the ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï for a specific associate’s degree, even if this course does not have an exact equivalent and even if the course credit is awarded through prior learning credit.

Reciprocity of Additional Requirements/Local Provisos

½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï will accept an entire Diversity Requirement for an associate’s degree as being met if that student has met the entire Diversity Requirement of a bachelor’s degree, according to the sending institution’s degree criteria.

½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï retains the right to impose unique, local prerequisite and graduation requirements. Such requirements may include but are not limited to learning communities/coordinated studies requirements, writing intensive course requirements, and/or physical education/health requirements.

Transcript Notation

Transcripts will include notation of requirements met by reciprocity. Notations will include the name of the sending baccalaureate institution. It is the student’s responsibility to initiate the reciprocity process and to gather appropriate documentation as needed. However, ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï agrees to make students aware of these provisions when possible and provide students engaging in reverse articulation with a clear contact point and process for pursuing reciprocity.

Policy Review History

Reviewed: November 2018
Revised: N/A

Review and Revision refers to the College’s cyclical process for evaluating and updating all institutional policies and procedures. At minimum, each policy or procedure will undergo review once every five years to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with current practices and regulatory requirements. If the scheduled review results in no changes, the date of that review will be recorded in the Reviewed field. If updates or edits are made, the date will be recorded in the Revised field. This process maintains transparency regarding the history of each policy or procedure and ensures the College remains responsive to evolving needs and standards.
